The Norwegian Ignobles Committee is announcing its first ignobles for 2025.

Real peace materializes only when all human lives are equally valued regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, orientation and religions. And this can be ensured only by people who are in power, power in terms of money, and power in terms of politics and decision-making. Even though there are policies, rules, orders and institutions are in place, the world has seen, time and time again, how equality is discriminately exercised by the global leaders and states. We have observed how world leaders and their states are creating divisions, subjugating humans just because they do not fall under the race and religion they represent. These leaders and their states have all the power required to stop atrocities, genocides, famines and violence to happen and make this world a real peaceful place. Yet they choose not to.

Yes, we do need to celebrate and remember the contributors to peace. But we also need to remember the ones who, despite of all their power and capacities, deliberately choose to destroy the peace and enable chaos and wars. No, we must not celebrate them, rather remember them, despise them. We need to mark those Ignobles as the darkness that attempts to engulf the peace.
